Exhibit Map thanks to MeiLover Replacing the old Children's Zoo in the bottom east corner, the new Wild Encounters exhibit is set to open in 2015 and will offer guests a variety of ways to experience direct interactions with nature, including the ability to feed parkateets, wallabies, emus and goats in three separate areas, as well as new homes for the zoo's reindeer and alpaca. Red pandas will be a new addition to the zoo. Species like tamanda and genets will be brought out as animal ambassadors by zoo workers in indoor and outdoor areas for guests to interact with. It's an intriguing concept and one that I'm sure will be a hit with visitors and I'm very curious how it will be play out. Compared to Great Bear Wilderness, which was announced before Ibex Island closed, the zoo's been kind of mum on this one.
Heaps of Zoos have Emu in walkthrough exhibits, and they tend to be very placid animals, although potentially less so when food is involved. Possible they are less commonly kept in American walkthroughs though.
