Wildwood Zoo is a tiny facility in Wisconsin (one of at least 24 zoos in that state and not to be confused with Wildwood Wildlife Park) and there are plans to start construction in 2015 on a $1.1 million expansion of the Grizzly Bear exhibit. One of the people working on the project is Rob Laidlaw, founder of Zoocheck Canada, proving that individuals associated with that organization are perhaps not completely anti-zoo after all. Most intriguing of all is the design, with a 1-acre "bear woods" being connected to an improved exhibit via a bridge. It reminds me of Denver Zoo's Toyota Elephant Passage but for a very tiny zoo in Wisconsin it seems like a revelatory exhibit.
