Polar bears used to be pretty common in european (and I suppose also north american) circuses, till relativelly recently. Circus or pet brown bears are not uncommon even today. As long as he endangers only himself, yeh...

Isn't Jimmy Clubb on record as saying they're the most trainable of bears?

Well that is bizarre. But he seems to have a decent enclosure and it appears to be hotwired all around for safety, so I see no real problem with it. Just wondering how a private person gets a polar bear?

They are extremely intelligent which I think make animals extremely dangerous. there is a saying in zoos that you should always have at least two locked doors between you and a Polar bear! Snowleopard have you visited this guy? does he have a private collection with other animals?

I don't like this. Seems like something bad to him, the Polar Bear, or someone close to him will happen. Just look at the example with the Chimpanzee attack in Stamford, Connecticut.

Are you familiar with the film "Grizzly Man" about Timothy Treadwell? They ended up pulling most of that guy out of a grizzly's stomach, along with his girlfriend who he got killed too with his stupidity. This does indeed look like a disaster waiting to happen.

I saw this some time ago and echo the comments that this is clearly a disaster waiting to happen.

I also think it is highly irresponisble. If - I won't say when - this bear turns on him, or through overly vigorous play, inflicts serious injury, ultimately the bear will pay the price for this man's recklessness. Not to mention the costs incurred by emergency services. I think this is crazy and should not be allowed.

I think it's great - he is giving the polar bear the enrichment of potential live prey to hunt and kill ;) :p

Maybe he can get real fat so the Polar Bear can even taste blubber on him, like real seals!
