This list is fantastic! Thank you so much for posting it. I didn't realize how many animals you had the names of! If I ever learn any more, I'll be sure to let you know them.

What can I say? It's my collection I guess. The SSP's and studbooks have helped me fill out a bunch of things but everyone else has helped out a bunch by posting names they learn too.

You think this list is impressive you should see my master list with info on all of the SSP species the zoo has for which the studbooks provide names (53 species). Its a 250 page document.

No problem Sealife357. You help on the last grouping was significant. The list has truly been a group effort. I have relied on all our friends here to really flush out the list. There is only so much I can get from studbooks, mostly for mammals and large birds. Everything else was provided by you guys. I think we have created a fantastic list.

There are still some major problem areas like the reindeer and baboons but those areas with vastly outdated info are getting fewer and fewer.

The biggest and hardest feat was getting the Przewalski's updated. No names in the studbook so I had to do tons of cross referencing with birth announcements to figure it all out. That took me a full day of research to get it nailed down. But it was a day well worth it because I solved a mystery.

But everyone should give themselves a pat on the back. We have done an impressive job.

This list is great, but I think to make it better, whenever an update post is made the master list is also updated. That way there will only be one master list that won't have to be reposted ever so often. It also makes it easier to see which animals are currently at the zoo.

I suppose I could repost the master list when there have been a bunch of changes if that's what everyone wants. Just thought a shorter update post would better highlight the changes.

Well what I'm saying is that you can continue the shorter update post to show the changes, but along with that you can also update the master list by editing the first post of this thread. That way the first post will always be current, and if people want to see any changes they can look through the thread and see all the additions and subtractions.

It's an old enough post I can't go back an edit it.

I do repost the list though in updated form usually once or twice a year depending on the amount of info that changes. Sometimes I get a whack of new names or there have been lots of comings and goings. Other times there really aren't a lot of changes.

If at any point people want an updated list just ask. I'm constantly working on it.

Oh, ok. I didn't know you couldn't edit a post after a certain amount of time has past. Well, I guess your current method will have to continue.
