I emailed the TZ to find out when the penguins would be on exhibit and it's not until mid-May.

Is completed however will have its grand opening in the spring. The south side was opened over the holiday break and will probably open up soon, they are just getting all the tweaks out of it at the moment.

Wrong thread to post that question in, and I have yet to see any plans or hear any details other than the ones that were previously posted in other threads.

A new addition to the zoo, in the African Rainforest Pavilion would be ring-tailed lemurs!

Wow thanks Quartz92, that is awesome to hear about the lemurs! Toronto zoo hasn't had lemurs since the Savannah got redone, so it will be exciting to see a former species return to the zoo!

Neat addition! I always thought they would be a good display animal at Toronto.

I actually do not know yet, I would assume somewhere around 5 or 6. I could also add that we should not be expecting to see out mandrills again as we are phasing them out of our collection.

The Tree Shrew has been there for about half a year, it has just been off display for quite some time.

Does anyone know if TZ has received a new pride of lions since last summer (2010)? I was looking at some pictures from last summer, and the male lion looks somewhat different.

There's the old male and female lions and the 2 male kids. They usually put them out in pairs since the kids are getting pretty big and I think were starting to take on the dad.

I was at the zoo yesterday, and i must say i sure was impressed with the refurb that is happening.
As for the lemurs, they all looked very happy and very excitied to be in the exhibit jumping around and continuously exploring every single spot they could. As for numbers if memory serves me right, there was at least 6 of them, they are certainly not shy either, as they would all come right up to the glass viewing areas and try to interact with some of the people that were around them.

Does anyone by chance have pictures of the refurbished exhibits and any updates on the penguin construction? Thanks!

I took pictures yesterday, i'll check how they turned out later, and post them up, if they turned out okay. :) also, i'm not expert, but from what i saw, there is plenty of work still to do, walls looked like they were still going up, and huge piles of rock and dirt were still all over the place, plenty of work was going on, and i'm assuming they are right on track for the May 21st opening date, which they have announced. I went to look over the wall, but unfortunately couldn't really see to much, as i'm a little short lol.....ps, this isn't really the right thread for that question ;) just watch it next time:) Makes everything easier to sort out, when others look for the info.
