Makes good sense. They can position themselves as the "southside" zoo and get out of Australia Zoo's shadow a bit. Also much, much more convenient for Gold Coast residents than Beerwah.

Just twelve months to achieve the move and be open to the public is a huge ask.

Maybe Sea World and Dreamworld will pitch in and help?

    Good luck to them.

    G'day mate.

My comment was only partly tongue in cheek!;)

Both Sea World and Dreamworld DID provide wonderful assistance to Lone Pine, for example, during the extreme weather events in January.

I don't envy the Alma Park crew the job ahead of them. We moved our entire animal population 1100 kilometres to this site so I know how nerve racking such a move can be.

At least the baboons will get a new exhibit.

While I will mourn the loss of the beautiful gardens at the current site, a new exhibit for the baboons is a real positive.

I was wondering if there has been any news on the move? Have any plans been released for the site, is it larger than the current site and is there plans to expand the collection?
I see from the zoo's website a new team has been appointed.

Sorry to repeat, any further news on the relocation, tried a quick google search and nothing.

    here we go:
Alma Park Zoo's Logan move delayed | News, events and sport for Pine Rivers and Moreton Bay | The Courier-Mail
Plans to relocate zoo face delays | News, events and sport for Logan | The Courier-Mail

it seems a little odd that the current site has already been sold to developers (in late 2010) and the move to Logan was announced a year ago, and yet they apparently haven't even lodged a development application for the new site!!

Yes it sounds like there have been a few hiccups in the process. I haven't heard of anyone opposing the projected move.

There are still plans to move the zoo, it will just take a few years. Best way to get updates is the new website or Facebook page.
