a few years ago im sure they were listed as having a coordinator but im pretty sure theyre listed as phase out. whether or not this decision was revoked following the decison to drop babiruasa import plans i do not know but either way Collared Peccary are in a pretty sad predicament and probably wont last another decade or so in this country unless high levels of inbreeding is considered viable/and or warranted.

I was told on Sunday it was a female.

The others in the group (1M, 2F) are on fire....they're marking everything in the enclosure as well as each other! Rubbing, rubbing.

I saw the baby trying to suckle both females. It's very cute.

This is the last viable group of Peccaries in the region.

look don't get me wrong, its a very nice statue of an large domestic pig, however, i donnot understand why its placed in the zoo and outside a peccary exhibit at that - not only are they not domestic pigs, they are not even pigs at all.
