I'm a bit surprised that no-one has given you any help on this one!

I'll give you the Darling Downs Zoo perspective.

We are very selective about just who we accept for work experience because so few people want to WORK. Like a lot of potential volunteers, many work experience enquiries come from people who imagine that their days will be spent cuddling cute little animals.

So our work experience program sets out to show people exactly what WORK in our zoo entails.

Our work day starts at 7am and finishes at 3.30pm. Our work week runs from Wednesday through to Sunday inclusive. We tell them that the work is physically demanding, rough, dirty, hot, cold [depending on the season] and that they will be summarily dismissed [no second chances] if they flout any of our safety directives. They will NOT touch an animal or a computer during their week at work here.

We get lots of applicants but not so many actually sign up!!!

Still want to do work experience???

Hey Stuart - there's nothing wrong with "old" as I'm sure Ara will agree

He and I would seem to be pretty much the same age and just look and marvel at the knowledge that he has.

As a matter of fact, our best vollies are the oldest ones - they still have that work ethic I guess.
