Here's one for either the older members (although this might be before your time). I have found a collection of photographs while cleaning out my Grandparents house. They are from Taronga Zoo and I'm trying to find out how old they are. Can't ask my Grandparents as they've been gone for a while.
Anyway I've been able to find out the following:
at the time the President of the TARONGA ZOOLOGICAL PARK AND AQUARIUM was John Edward Hallstrom
The Manger was Lionel Edward Coleman.
That's all I've been able to find out.
Any idea of a time period would be great. I'll post my favourite photos over the next few days.
John Edward Hallstrom became President of the Taronga Trust in 1959 and remained so, I believe, until 1967. He was the son of Sir Edward Hallstrom who had been President since 1941 but who had to resign in 1959 because he had reached the age of 73 (the upper allowable age limit for President.) Sir Edward was then given the title Honorary Director.
Interesting stuff, Jarkari. I look forward to seeing those photos.
