A male rhino has been born at Monarto Zoo. This is the third white rhino birth at Monarto, and this is the third male born (so far no females).

I thought Umqali was at Dubbo, did she get transfered to Monarto?

No I don't think so, Monarto have had the same two females for at least 3 years.

Monarto had one of the wild rhinos that they could not get to breed so dubbo and monarto swapped to see if they would have better luck.

I am not sure if it is an official name, but on the RZSSA website they refer to the calf as being called 'Digger'.

On a reply on the zoo's Facebook page, it has been announced that 'Digger' is his actual name because he was born on ANZAC Day.
