Anyone know hwta happened to Sumara, the female bengal who is Sita, Sultan, Taj and Rama's mother?

Thanks. I know the region is focussing on Sumatrans so this question is just out of curiosity. When Kato First Arrived wasn't it to breed with Sita? Is this still the intention or is Dreamworld going to focus on Sumatran breeding instead.?

I was actually wondering the same thing Jakari. I read on the Dreamworld website in 2005-2006 time that they were trying to bred from Sita and Kato.

I'm also beginning to wonder what's taking them so long!!!

I know why they wouldn't breed them, just wondering if they still intended to. probably no use any mmore with two lots of sumatran births.

When I went to Queensland about a year ago and visited Dreamworld, they were mating Sita and Kato on Tiger Island.
They had Kato on a lead and would use that to help him escape "the swipe" in time and aviod any scratches from Sita.
They said it was not the first time (cycle) they had tried and had so far been unsuccessful.
So I can only assume they have either stop trying, are still trying or were maybe successful with breeding, but not with any possible birth.

Samara and breeding plans
Old 09-07-2008

To clarify: Samara died of cancer at National Zoo in Canberra about three years ago. She had been implanted while at WPZ and possibly the cause for this particular cancer.

Kato has not bred with Sita. Sita had to undergo an emergency spay as she had a ruptured uterus. Will possibly look at other alternatives for Bengal breeding in the future.

That's terrible. They should try and find a female bengal to mate with Rama.
