The Ryukyu dwarf wild pig ( Sus scrofa riukiuanus ) is the smallest and rarest of all known Eurasian wild pig subspecies. At least 6 males and 7 females of this subspecies were kept in 5 different Japanese collections in 1990.
I would be intrested to learn if anybody knows more about the current ( captive ) status of this subspecies, at which zoos it is ( has been ) kept and if any ZooChatter has ever seen this subspecies ?
