You Favorite Food
Old 08-09-2012

Nobody outside of Ohio, Kentucky, or Florida knows what this is but Skyline Chili was the best food ever invented. It originated in Cincinnati and Cincinnati is the only place where it's actually good (The ones in Cleveland and Kentucky are awful). I also noticed that everybody I know from Cincinnati likes it but everyone who isn't dislikes it. So what's your favorite food?

It's almost mango season in Australia and I can't wait There's nothing more perfect than a good mango on a nice day.

Yum! The roadside mango trucks that used to be so popular are long gone now. They had the best mangos.

Roadside fruit always tastes better. I got some awesome pink ladies on my way through the Yarra Valley last week and once I bought 4 kilos of cherries because they were $5 a kilo and I only had a $20 note on me.

the best fruit in the world is dragonfruit, and the white-fleshed one is better than the red-fleshed one.

Hey, whatever happened to dragon(ele)nerd???

Really? I found them both a bit disappointingly bland. The best fruit in the world is Feijoa, yum!

Anything not served at an American zoo cafe, which are notoriously bad. (Of the roughly 70 US zoos I have been to in the last two decades, only two have food service I would consider excellent - Arizona Sonora Desert Museum and Houston Zoo).

As for a singular favorite food that is a tough one, but speaking of native fruit, a really good USA watermelon, refrigerated, is hard to beat on a hot day. Sadly, I have not tasted good watermelon in years. I don't know if it is actually getting worse with corporate farming or I just do not try it enough.

You should try the watermelon imported to the UK , I bet yours is tastier!!. If I go on holiday to a Greek island or southern Europe, the watermelon is always much nicer.
The other day I saw on TV that if you get a strip of watermelon and sprinkle on a pinch of salt and a pinch of chilli powder, then it is a really refreshing flavour combination...

As for my favourite food, well as a Brit it has to be fish & chips (fries in the US and elsewhere I believe) with salt & vinegar by the seaside.

Not much beats a good ol' corn on the cob during the last few days of summer.

Hot Buttered Toast...

it has to be thick bread - brown or white - not bothered, preferrably fresh from an uncut loaf

it also has to be fresh salted butter

if I put anything else on it then it's either "Rose's Lime Marmelade" or Ginger Jam
