I thought I open a new thread for this private collection.
(since an Indian rhino birth was reported from them).

The center has an interesting collection of hoof stock, including it seems Indian rhino and reticulated giraffe (vouched for).

Also an interesting dik dik collection (Hinde's + ?Salt's), (black?) impala, Arabian tahr and Suni.

Given that there's now a thread for this collection, I'd like to emphasise that it's closed to the public.

Apparently they are part of the international programmes and are an affiliate member of WAZA.

Now confirmed: a female Okapi was born on 28 October 2015.
Al Bustan thus currently holds 1.3 Okapi.

I had no idea they were up to eight cats! This is great news. I wonder if they are all the result of one founder pair?

I believe all the cats originate from a single pair that came to Al Bustan in 2007/8.

Have a feeling I heard they got another pair in a year or two back.

The 3 female Marbled Cats in the collection are mother & daughters:
-The breeding female arrived at Al Bustan in April 2008
-First (surviving) female kitten born June 2012
-Second (surviving) female kitten born December 2015

If any unrelated female cat ever entered the collection, she didn't survive to the present time.
