They were in the Asian Plains were they not? I think by the time I remember seeing them, they just had a couple left in the collection, displayed at the zoo.

Another great photo of a bygone era (less than two decades ago ...).
Note the protective tips on the horns to prevent goring incidents.

I don't imagine Saiga would have coped well in the San Diego Summer.

I know this is quite old, but my word! You are amazingly lucky! I would do anything to get to see a Saiga. I wish that some more would be brought to the United States. Though that is highly unlikely as far as I know they are only currently kept in the Moscow Zoo. Did SD have any luck breeding them?

Well! You are most certainly very lucky.

I heard that the Saiga at the Colonge Zoo just died a few years ago :( Not that it was likely that I would make to Germany any time soon any ways.

The last male Saiga at Cologne Zoo died rather recently, @Kudu21; last october, to be precise...

And mighty relieved was I that 2009 was the year I finally got over to Cologne - I saw the Saiga with only months to spare...
    • Kudu21
Oh.I knew it died recently, but I thought it was longer ago then just 5 months.
