Greetings Nisha has mentioned this also in the general Dvůr Králové thread however I wish to highlight the matter as I have heard no further update from any news feeds. Female keeper at Czech zoo injured by pygmy hippo - Inside Bay Area Does anyone have an update. I am assuming the animal is fine but what about the keeper ? We were visiting only a week before this happened and the staff were first rate - my respects to them. Cheers, Paul M.
The female keeper went through 3-hours long operation in the hospital and her leg didn´t have to be amputated. Between her knee and groin, all the soft tissue on the inner side was devastated till the bone and she almost bleaded to death. The doctors stitched all the muscles, artery, nerves back together and they think she has a good hope to be without permanent impairment.
