Yes it is a mongoose. I can't remember which type it is but I will check it out on my next visit.

Banded mongoose. One of the three species of mongoose present in the zoo; dwarf mongoose and meerkats are the two others.

@Athleticpete: I Hope no offence you , but you has wrote "armadillos" in the 4th paragraph of you last entrance in your blog. I'm sure that you want to write aardvarks, isn't it?.
    Greetings!

Thanks for pointing that out Keeper. You are of course correct and I have amended my blog. The aardvark is yet another animal at the Bioparc that has given birth recently.
As someone who knows the Bioparc well, I would be interested in your opinion of my description. Do you think it did justice to the Bioparc? It was difficult to include everything at the parc without it going on for ages but hopefully I gave people an idea of the place..

    Hi :)
Your description it's well accurate, but not in the size ;) actually the zoo It has an area of about 80,000 sqr. meters. but 105, 000 sqr.meters. only when -finally- the next expansion planned (Asia I suppose) it's finished...

And now a question, if I may: It's correct in english to name `camel'
(two humps) a 'dromedary camel' just one hump?

It's a doubt for my when I try to learn and improve my english.
    Thanks!.

@Keeper, is not not unlikely that the Asia Section will be built in the next few years due to the financial situation surrounding Bioparc organization? If I am correct the Valencia Municipality actually provided cash flow cover for the zoo ...

Yes Kifaru Bwana you're right, the financial situation in the country is bad, and RFD does not increase the number of visitors, with its - too - expensive tickets ...
A few days ago I read that Bioparc paid all taxes (amount of the concession fee) to the municipality... With no money! but in tickets!.

I fear that the planed enlargement will be delayed for several years.

Another birth at the Bioparc. Good news.
Do you know what they are doing in the Zebra and Rhino enclosure? There were lots of diggers and workmen in there last week when I visited.

Yes, giraffes, impalas, blesboks and waterbucks (and a few birds species) living together in the wet (grassy) savannah, and rhinos, zebras, ostriches and crowned cranes and Guinea fowls living in the dry savannah.

Was this the exhibit of the solitary rhino that was blind (I think)? What happened to him?
