Was at the Bioparc yesterday and saw Two baby giraffes. Both are being kept with the second baby's mother in a sheltered enclosure away from the others and the public glare. Both are apparently now doing well. I look forward to seeing them out in the open

The babies are sons of Zora and Buleria and the adult giraffe is Che, because the two mothers refuse her babies.

I think this is a convenient way for using the experienced hybrid female as a surrogate mum. Presume she might be sterilized … in the future (although she has reached a quite respectable age now already)? What will happen with the her 2 hybrid calves (Afrika and Kebo) at Bioparc?

Any elephant breeding news? Has Kibo been successful with any of the Namibia cows?

In the past three months many animals were born in Valencia, like : two
Angolan lion cubs, 4 rock hyraxes, and few days ago, 5 Western sitatungas.

Expansion works have been delayed, without planned start date.

    Hello,

I would have some questions for Spanish friends and insiders. At the beginning of Mai I will be visiting Bioparc and as the big zoo enthusiast I am really looking forward to my first visit. I would have two questions. There are two ( mayby only one left ) species I have never seen before - Red-flanked duiker and Spotted-necked otter. Does Bioparc still keep the last duiker ? It was moved from the Animal database zootierliste.de to the former holding very recently so I am interested in if it was only faulty entry to the database or if the last individual passed away ( unfortunately ). As far as the otters what is the best time to see them active during the day ? Any feeding time takes place regularly ? And if they are not active is it possible to have a look on them in their inside facility ?
I would really appreciate any response to my questions.

    Jakub

Sad news. It seems that the red flanked duiker died.
