Hornbill 1.2 Salvadori's Pheasants arrived at Chester this year. They now hold 3.3, 2,1 having arrived in 2006.

Kiang no elephants have been born at Chester in 2007, I originally posted the birth of a male but I was confused and thought last year's male had been born this year. A huge mistake on my part.

Reptile highlights I would think include the first UK birth of Morelett's Crocodile at Cotswold, the first UK birth of Haitian Giant Galliwasp at Jersey and the arrival of 2 Caiman Lizards at Chester.

Surely someone who reads the forums likes fish so I propose to add a probable first UK breeding of Denison's Barb at Chester.

The arrival of Asian open-bill storks at Blackbrook also deserves a mention.

Yesterday the Kingsley Bird and Falconry Centre announced the probable UK first breeding of Dark-breasted Barn Owls.

We can add to it for quite a while... Our little database of Uk Developments.

Also those little black tailed marmosets at London zoo have bred.
Chester has now 1.1.3. Azara's agouti, one female was brought in, and they've bred.

On a sadder note, the UK's only fishing owl died in July.

Gorilla Kingdom and Realm of the Red Ape were opened at London and Chester respectively.

No not yet, I don't think.

Also new, later this year, or early next will be philippine crocodiles. Quite an exciting development.

The arrival of Tuan to Chester, and the mixing of Birma with the rest of Chester's elephant herd are also notable.

Tuan is a borneon orang utan male who came from Antwerp to Chester for breeding. The Antwerp zoo has stopped keeping orang utans because they have no space for them in the old (and terribly small) ape house. Female Astrid went to Osnabrück.
