From the Longleat Website: Animal Adventure...to open Summer 2009! So we've got a new bird show area thank God, the original got way too overcrowded, the Butterfly Garden will be incorperated into the area, there'll be more animal encounters, and from the podcast I learn't that the parma wallabies will be moved here and on the plan drawings in said podcasts, I saw what looks like a lemur.
yes i saw this a short while back, it seems okay but the nam is really dull, they should try a more original name. lemurs would be good and yes the parma and parrot enclosures are pretty bad so a new area for these should be good!
That sounds good I must admit when we visited a few years ago I was disappointed with the butterfly house mostly to do with having to squeeze through a shop to even get in it! And the parrot show you could get know where near! I really enjoyed the 2 days we spent at Longleat (as a whole package, house/attractions/drive thro) but was disappointed with bits of it! Looks a lot bigger on the tv and very disappointed with the safari which was too short and hardly saw any animals! cant believe you can only go round the once!
How is Longleat a rip-off? I've been there a few times, and would definitly say its better than either of the other UK safari parks I've been to (Knowsley & West Midlands). The animal enclosures are absolutely massive, pretty decent selection of species and the African area where you can get out of your car is fantastic! On my last visit I got a passport ticket that lets you see everything - I only bothered with the safari, Pet's Corner and the boat ride, but it was still cheaper than paying for each bit individually! As for the drive-through being too short... try going to West Mids, the place has an amazing collection and I did enjoy it, but they have an awful lot crammed into a very small space by safari park standards. The new development sounds good, and lemurs would be great, especially if it's a walk-through, which I think it probably will be.
Longleat pays the standard attraction price with the passport ticket, the idea being that you can make the most of the whole range of attractions there in one day, and come back for free another time if you don't get to. It's a huge place, and to be perfectly honest, I'd rather go round the safari park once, so there's more to look forward to on my next visit. I'm also hoping AA will include penguins. Yes, they're a bit repetitive nowadays, but I'd just like to see them at Longleat anyway.
this comment is not really relevant to the disscussion here cat-man, and no its not a rip off as dalek said the idea is to enjoy the whole variety of attractions. (similar to WMSP)
Wow this is really interesting! Can't wait to see what this attaraction will look like when finished! I still need to add Longleat to my list of zoos/wildlife parks to visit so I can't really say anything about it being a rip-off. Also, anyone know when the next animal park series is set to air?
why do you always change the subject when somone has a go at you, just take the criticism and move on.....
That's tricky to answer, though they usually air new series' around Autumn/Winter. They already showed the first half of the new one in July. Also, if you view the Longleat podcast for this month, it shows some plans on how it'll be layed out: Lots of greenery and wooden fences.
I agree with cat-man, it is despicable that you can only go through the safari once, apart from the house the safari itself is the big draw at Longleat, but could this be to make more visitors spend more money in the walk round area rather go round and round the safari. I do hope they inform visitors of this before they enter the park, i would be pissed off if i went through, never saw everything and wanted to go back again
the paddocks at longleat are pretty open so you usually see most animals first time round, besides the drives takes over 2 hours so why would you want to go round again?
I do rather agree with CatMan and Kiang here. Of the 4 UK Safari Parks i've visited (Blair Drummond being the one i havent yet) i personally would rank Longleat as 4th and by quite a margin aswell. When i visited, we decided to go round the safari first and then go back to see the Tapirs and the Wallabies, then of course we found out we coudnt. They really should tell people this, that they cant go round again.
Actually, they make it pretty clear on the passport you can only do things once. Now, let's get back to the topic's purpose and stop all the Longleat bashing, as it's actually starting to upset me on a personal level.
is it against zoochat rules to attempt to swear, cat-man your not going to get a good name on this site if you swear and abuse the site, i would recomend you try not to swear! are they going to be housed in the new animal adventure or pets corner?
