I went to Dartmoor two weeks ago and they had two brown bears (Ben and Kaley) and a syrian brown bear (fudge).

Dartmoor have 3 European Brown Bears, 2 females Hayley and Fudge and the young male Ben that came from whipsnade. Fudge is the eldest being well over 30 years old

Fudge does actually look like a Syrian bear, but they do label her as a European brown bear.
Is there any news on them breeding? I spoke to a keeper last time I went, and she said that the male, Ben, has been getting "very friendly" with Hayley since they both lost lots of weight when they stopped the public feeding.

Don't know any news on breeding but fudge is certainly Syrian unless her species has changed in the two weeks since the keeper told me.

They were all listed in the stud book as being European when i was there.

Dartmoor actually had another bear before Hayley and Fudge. She was called Honey and originated from Lornas Mini Zoo, in cornwall when it closed down. She later became ill and died

Fudge orginally came from London Zoo.

And Hayley i believe came from Highland Wildlife Park, along with the European Bison which used to live in front of the resturant with the fallow deer.

Ben was only a baby when he arrived from Whipsnade in the mid 90's

I would be surprised if the bears breed

Was Ben hand reared then?
I don't think they'll breed either to be honest, but stranger things have happened.
