    Twycross have announced through their twitter that one of the chimps has sadly died.:(

    'Sad news we lost one of our long standing chimps to heart failure. Jilloch was born at Twycross Zoo and took part in the chimps tea parties.'

    There is an article in today's 'Sunday Telegraph' about the death of Jilloch and how she was one of the PG Tips adverts performers . Unfortunately the picture accompanying the article shows a young Orang which the caption says is Jilloch .

    Does anyone know if the Orang that featured in some of these adverts was also a Twycross animal ?

    I do remember the young Orang in later PG Tips adverts , perhaps by then Twycross no longer supplied the 'stars' .

    Twycross' original Orangutans were two young pairs;

    Tobie & Trudie (sumatran)
    Jod and Alex (bornean)

    In the book another young female is also mentioned as being kept at their previous premises but she did not survive that long and may never have been at the existing zoo. Alex may also been obtained to replace her but not sure on those two facts. Any of these 5 animals could have been used in the adverts but I think the most likely contender is the young female from the book (Jeannie, or Julie?).
