The fact that he has been alone for several years is not a good reason on its own, to make him live 'in solitary' for the rest of his life. That would be acceptable only if he is seriously anti-social with other chimps, which appears not to be the case. They would probably only need to add a single animal- more than one, particulaly if they are already bonded together, might be too stressful for him to handle. Either sex would do but a female is a nicer, more logical idea. Two zoos nearby- Twycross and Dudley have no shortage of chimps. Even a temporary loan could be possible and if they proved compatable, the enrichment to this male's life would be huge.
