Roughly 3 years ago I made a thread about how I loved South Lakes. I am not attaching a link because frankly I am ashamed of the arrogance and stupidity I had in the thread.
I want people to be aware that I have grown as a person since then and my zoological knowledge has also increased. I still enjoy visiting South Lakes but I now realise it's flaws. First of all I do not like David Gill. I find his attitude very bad (just as mine was in the thread I made). As well as this I find some of the species mixes unnecessary and at times, stupid. I have also visited other zoos since then, such as Colchester and Chester, which have built my understanding on how zoos should be run.
I want everyone to know that I am sorry for my boisterous attitude in the thread I mentioned and that I do wish to be more active in the zoochat community.

You made a mistake, and now you realise it. Hope you enjoy your future zoo visits.

Well I think its the anti SLs gang that should be posting apologies. Its a sorry state when individuals feel they have to appease the flat earth mitty society of knockers to be accepted on here.

Appropos of nothing, have you visited SLWAP yet, or are you still so aglow with the conviction that anyone that dislikes the collection is wrong and part of a shadowy conspiracy that you haven't gotten around to it yet? :p

I haven't visited South Lakes and I don't particularly have an opinion either way. I'd like to make up my own mind though I admit from Ive heard I'm not keen.

To jadaway: you don't need to apologise for your past opinions or for changing your mind. Everyone is entitled to think what they think and as long as people can justify why they think something that's fine.

You shouldn't let others dictate how much you post, just because you don't or didn't share the opinions of some of our more vocal posters that shouldn't make you feel that you can't join in.

The world would be a dull place if we were all the same.

Debate is a good thing :)

Pot Kettle Black atleast I am prepared to admit that SLWAP might have a few good bits, but the fact that the bad far out ways the good to me is not good enough!!But atleast I have visited and don't just blindly defend a place that I have never visited, like your goodself has never done with your beloved SLWAP in fact I am starting to wonder just what relation you are to the great Mr Gill,or if in fact you are the great man himself!!!!!!!!!

but wouldn't it be nice for a change to have a South Lakes thread that doesn't need to be locked or filled with holes from deleted posts?

Whilst I'm not necessarily disputing yours, or dublinlion's, opinion, as I say I haven't been, a discussion on the merits of south lake wasn't really the reason jadaway was posting

It is nice of someone to point out an air of misguided thought and such should be applauded in a way that merits it. Not enough people and establishments do this and should not be frowned upon. I disagree with the comments made by dublinlion and Chlidonias. If South Lakes Safari Zoo or what ever it wants to call itself and that of Dave Gill were not in the news so much, with this and that, with ego and an air of fantasy and blaming others for failures, then the backlash would not be as great and the need to lock or delete comments and threads would be less. 11jadaway has made comment as to feelings past held and now sees a different view, that should be seen as a good thing, each person has their belief, their opinion and their ideals and sometimes we travel through life picking up habits which we want to dust off later on.

That sounds like some sort of Monty Python social club.

The guy said he made a mistake so it's not him apologising to those enlightened people who see Dave for what he is, it's him admitting his opinion was formed in poor information. So your dig much like Dave's zoo is a massive failure.

You have no knowledge about South Lakes, until you do I hope you will stop sticking up for a place that you have not seen.
