I visited Beaver Water World today and I really didn’t know what to expect since there is only one short thread from 3 years ago and only 5 pictures in the gallery for this zoo so I have decided to post this full species list. I will be uploading some pictures of enclosures etc. into the gallery tonight or tomorrow and I will be writing a short review sometime hopefully this week on my thread here: http://www.zoochat.com/9/laughingdove-s-trip-through-europe-summer-417467/ Species List: The signage was absolutely terrible – there were several mistakes and inconsistencies and lots of species were not signed in mixed aviaries where only one or two species were signed. I think this is due to many rescued birds coming in. This is all signed species and all other species that I saw (the place isn’t huge so I had ample time to look for any un-signed birds and since there wasn’t really much hiding space for them, I’m fairly confident that this is everything). Red iguana is a morph of green iguana. Akie monitor is spiny-tailed, and is named from the species name acanthurinus.
I don't know anything about this place but have always thought the name rather curious. Are there a lot of Beavers, or is there a lot of Water... or both/neither?
I thought the name was awful There are two enclosures for beavers with four or five of them and the main enclosure does take up a significant portion of the area of the zoo, probably about a fifth or a sixth. However the collection is mostly rescued reptiles and birds as ex-pets and the road sign (as in the official brown one) calls it 'Reptile Zoo'! In terms of the Water? That's anyone's guess. You have to walk through an aquatics shop (not connected to the zoo in any way) to access the zoo so it could be that. Is suspect though that the owner just thought the name sounded good.
I saw that, and I saw a picture in the ZooChat gallery labelled as Canadian Beaver... but their signage says European. I have attached a picture of the sign (this was just my usual picture for record purposes so is not the whole sign) where you will notice a rather funny map
