Only take Zooterliste as a guide NOT a true species list as it is not updated by the collections themselves just e-mail the collection involved and 99% of the time you will receive a reply with a complete current on/off show species list

It was an obervation, not a moan. :D

Adrian that is a good point, but Zootierlist is better than nothing.

Considering how secretive RSCC can be, this is unlikely to work in this specific case :p as such the above list - although pretty accurate where onshow taxa are concerned - is quite possibly lacking a few offshow taxa, and almost certainly contains a few taxa which are no longer held at the collection.

To my knowledge, the following taxa in bold are all onshow for certain at the collection - the remainder are species known to be offshow or whose status I am uncertain of, including well as one or two I suspect to no longer be present.

    African civet
    Banded palm civet
    Bengal Slow Loris
    North Chinese Leopard
    Spotted fanaloka
    Fishing cat
    Fosa
    Golden-necked Cassowary

Golden-headed lion tamarin (Gold-and-black lion tamarin)
    Indochinese clouded leopard
    Indochinese smooth-coated otter
    Jaguarundi

    Cotton-top tamarin (White-plumed tamarin) (Pinche)
    Maned wolf
    Sun bear
    Malayan tiger

    Mindanao rufous hornbill
    New Guinea short-beaked echidna
    Northern bamboo lemur
    Northern yellow-throated marten
    Eastern aardwolf
    Palawan binturong
    Ring-tailed vontsira

    Roseate spoonbill
    Red flamingo
    Red ruffed lemur
    Bearded emperor tamarin
Red and White Giant Flying Squirrel
    Scarlet ibis
    Narrow-striped boky
    Snow leopard
    Silvery marmoset
    Peking robin
    Callimico
    Sri Lankan rusty-spotted cat
    Red-cheeked gibbon

    Eastern tarsier

Snow Leopards were on show when I visited in June and the North Chinese Leopard was off show although I believe that this has now left the collection.

I'd be very interested to know about the status of the African civets that are listed. Does anyone know if (1) this species is still present and (2) there are any plans to put them on show at any stage?

I visited just over a week ago and can confirm that snow leopards and red ruffed lemurs are both on show . A pair of clouded leopard occupy the enclosure which I believe previously housed the North Chinese leopard . The flamingo and maned wolf are only partly on show as they can only be seen on the keeper tours to the Malayan tigers .

Seem to remember reading that the fat-tailed dwarf lemurs have left the collection .

I really doubt that 99% of zoos will send a complete stocklist on email request! Some will (and some of course have the list freely-accessible on their website), but most would probably not. A lot of zoos don't even respond to simple questions, let alone going to the trouble of sending someone their entire inventory.

From my visit in early August and conversations with the employees I know that the African Civets and Fat-tailed Dwarf Lemurs are no longer in the collection. Red ruffed Lemurs and Snow Leopards are on show.

I would love to know this also, I guess there is a good chance they could have gone into a private collection.
