The one I was talking about was the old one, Charlie, he has to have been at Whipsnade for at least 14 years. I'm not sure when Whipsnade stopped keeping Chapman's but it had been told to me that it was an ex breeding stallion from another collection. He was kept in the batchelor paddock which is opposite the Grevy's zebra, just before the entrance to the drive through asia. I know nothing about a second Chapman's stallion at Whipsnade.

I hope they do as it means if the locals want to see zoo animals on a sunday they will have to go to Bristol and see a real zoo, just an aside Bristol visitors figures are well down on last year.

My fault as I sidetracked to talking about Whipsnade Zebras in an earlier post on this thread. Anyone yet can tell us where the three zebras at Noahs Ark Zoo Farm came from?

Okay, I have it now. Yes, this male was for a long time in the paddock you describe. I'm presuming he was Marwell's original Chapman stallion, arriving as part of their first group circa 1970. As he was still there in June this year he's now nearer 40 and being wildcaught, could be older still! A 2nd younger male has joined him since last year and they are in the paddock behind the waterfowl lake. Thanks for the information.
