    Hey,
Im new to this and not sure how to navigate round the site too well! Does anyone know of a UK zoo that has a good sloth exhibit? I know its a little random but I do like them and would quite like to see one properly. I have seen one before but think it was in Madrid if I remember rightly.
    Thank you :)

London zoo keep their sloth in the main rainforest section and it seems to work quite well. I seem to remeber also seeing Sloths at Paignton and Amazon World, im not sure if that is still the case. The only other collection I can think of is Twycross which keeps them in their tropical house.

London's are a very active pair (well for a sloth anyway) and share the exhibit with some birds and small monkeys.

Cotswold Wildlife park keep them in their heavily planted Tropical House , they can be very hard to see in there . Last time I visited Twycross one of the sloths was at ground level next to the path but not moving .

Paignton has Two-Toed Sloth in the Nocturnal House - not always easy to see.

Amazon World on the Isle of Wight do still have Sloth - you would be quite close IF it was active. There seem to be quite a few listed on the ISIS database around the UK ('Choloepus didactylus' for example).

Hamerton have a large number and have been highly successful in breeding them since they opened. The original breeding pair were from Guernsey zoo when it closed, and they continued to do well at Hamerton.

All the UK sloths are Linnes two-toed, apart from Newquay which have Hoffmans. There are no three-toed sloths in the UK.

The best exhibit by far is London. Their pair were kept underground in the slightly ironically named 'moonlight world' and were largely inactive; moving them to the open rainforest biome has demonstrated what a difference a change in husbandry can make, they are very active and look fantastic in the exhibit. There must also be a certain level of stimulation interacting with the tamarins and titis.

Have been through Cotswolds' Tropical House 5 times and only seen their Sloth once, and that was with the help of a keeper

Look for the 'not to be missed' thread in the London sub-forum. It has lots of tips about London in it

Looks good (I found the forum!) does anyone know if there is a train station near there or anything? Is public transport to the zoo easy?

    from Colchester zoo Site
"enclosure for our two Linne's Two Toed Sloths in the middle of our beginning zone, one of the newly regenerated areas of the Zoo. Our two Two-toed Sloths have moved into the enclosure where they now enjoy living in a mixed exhibit with our family of Emperor Tamarins and share their outdoor enclosure with some Yellow-footed Tortoises and Green Iguanas. This new enclosure has a pathway straight through the middle of it, on which visitors can walk through and experience the animals all around them- just as they would in the Amazon rainforest!"

When the sloths are outside there is usually a keeper out with them that you can bombard with questions! Apparently sloths don't go to the toilet much so your alright if they are climbing over your head! Who would ask such a thing

And then they roll in it to feed the moss and algae in their fur. :)
