Would love to see Cacomistles, these look very interesting members of the racoon family, would love to see kagu and wombat too!
I'd love to see cacomistle or ringtail too seen Kagu, they are pretty cool looking birds and taxonomically bloody bizarre.
Pacarana (I do recall seeing a pair in Bristol many moons ago ) or if we are talking realms of fantasy then my namesake the Giant Otter Shrew
Picathartes for me. Either species, I have a strange fascination with them which is more than likely due to Gerald Durrel and David Attenborough .
Neither have I It just beat the Tahiti blue lory: as they say, a good big 'un always beats a good little 'un. Alan
Shoebill; Harpy Eagle; Kagu; a Long-beaked Echidna species; Bilby; Tasmanian Devil; a Wombat; Common Vampire Bat; a Douc; Proboscis Monkey; Pampas Cat; Baird's Tapir; Yellow-backed Duiker. These are the ones I think could be attained....
I used to think the Tasmanian Devils in the Clore were old hat, and the Wombats did not do much for me either! I too would like to see Kagus, Imperial Amazons, Shoebills and Picathartes, plus Lear's Macaws actually on display (a few Spix's Macaws would not go amiss either). I'd love to see the return of cetaceans too.
They generated considerable interest when they first arrived, but as usual it died away as time passed. Nowadays of course they are a lot more endangered than they were then too, with the DFT disease ravaging the wild population. Spix- would love to see some- where do you think should have the honour?
In the extremely unlikely event I'd like to think Paradise Park in its role as headquarters of the World Parrot Trust, but maybe somewhere not in the UK but regarded as such for ZooChat purposes would get its hands on them - unfortunately as far as I'd be concerned as it is a place I have no desire to visit.
Tasmanian Devils or Quolls would be pretty high up my list of possible species. Forest Elephant and Manatees are also up there, but for Forest Elephants you'd need to do wild capture.
Well I think I'm to late but I would love to see Darwin's frog or the Golden toad, sadly both are now thought to be extinct. also the golden frog Atelopus zeteki
With its emphasis on conservation it just would not be my cup of tea (not that I drink tea), plus it has got Gorillas and the less of them I see the better (admittedly Paignton does feature in my favourite five collections, but a glance at the nauseating creatures is usually more than enough for me and they are fairly easy to avoid there anyway). Additionally I'd have thought that travelling to Jersey would be pretty much like going abroad, something I have never done or have any intention of doing. That is probably enough of a rant, although there is something else that would prevent me from ever setting foot in the place even if it were just down the road - all I shall say is that I have only seen one writer raise the subject, but when I read the piece I was delighted as the matter is something I have wondered about and I was surprised no one else seemed to think the same thing. Actually I have just thought of something else.........................
