Is anybody going to Twycross zoo soon?

If so, can you possibly check to see if the mother and baby tapir are on show yet.Thanks.

There are 2 different reports of the tapirs death, one is that it was killed by it's mother and secondly that it had septicaemia.
As to whether a new silver back is coming I do not know at present but Joe's den has been cleaned and left as a form of shrine to him.

The baby Tapir died from septicaemia.

Interesting, it was mentioned the enclosure would be built so the species can be swapped around.

Is this still the case?

The sign says that the new project will allow keepers to rotate animals in between the enclosures so unless they encounter problems it would seem it's still planned.

Also, when did twycross get a new website? It looks MUCH better than the old one.

The content is better but I'm not a great fan of the design. The top frame takes up nearly half my screen space!
