New Caledonian imperial pigeon (Ducula goliath)
reputedly the largest arboreal pigeon in the world, this endemic species is still locally-common in some forests but rapidly losing ground to hunters. This individual is actually sitting on the top of the aviary but it is surely an escaped one as Noumea is now outside its wild range! August 2010.
