Does anyone else think it might be time for this gallery (and possibly forum) to be broken down a bit... Say along the lines of countries..?

Sim your the boss, what do you think..?

I think is a good one , but please keep it all in the one forum .

even if we start by splitting Europe into regions , and at some later stage have seperate chapters as post numbers warrant it .
example ;
We could have

Lowland countries -- Netherlands , Belgium , Luxembourg
Mediterranean -- France Spain Portugal Italy
Alpine countries ; -- Switzerland , Austria Czech/Slovak republic
Scandinavia -- Denmark , Sweden , Norway, Finland
Eastern European being everywhere else except Germany , which as it has a huge number of zoos , it could have a page of its own

Sorry to contradict, but seperating Europe in the way mentioned above is quite not fitting; while large countries like France consist of more than just the Mediterranean coast (France does have alpine & lowland areas, and f.e. Slovakia & CZ are not just "alpine", just like other "flat" countries mentioned do share some mountains), Portugal has no Mediterranean area and other European countries like Croatia are somehow neglected by Your suggestion.
May I suggest a rather common version:
Northern Europe: Scandinavia-the states mentioned above, including Iceland (although I don't know whether Iceland has any zoos at all...)
Middle Europe: Benelux, Germany, Austria, Switzerland
Western Europe: France, Spain, Portugal, Canary Islands
Southern Europe: Italy, Greece, Croatia, Bulgaria...
Eastern Europe: Czech Repuplic, Slovacia, Poland, Hungary, Estonia...

Sounds good to me Sun, although I agree with Nigel that Germany should have its own page...

Well, let's hope then that no Europeans show up afterwards, complaining about the German special treatment... Germany has an awful lot of "zoos" (about 750+), but I think most often, only the more prominent ones are mentioned here.

Sun Wukong ,

You obviously havent read my post carefully .

What does the 3rd line say ?

And on the 4th line I said " we could have ..... " I could have used the phrase " we should .... " but I didnt , as it is only an generalisation idea

The Zoo breakdown was only a guide line or a suggestion .
I am perfectly aware that France has many geographical regions , just as NZ has , and Croatia and other countries are were NOT "neglected" but were put into Eastern European , and I am perfectly aware that the countries in the "Alps" are not 100% mountainous
OK , change the word Mediteranean to "Atlantic" or something more fitting if you need to .
I am sorry if I offended you by generalising the European continent

have you considered the thought that some people may consider Bulgaria to be an Eastern bloc country rather than a Southern Europe country , as per your suggestion ? ( Not that I give 2 hoots )

I saw the need to seperate the countries into segments , and gave a suggestion on how one MAY do so . How it is done so in the end is something I am not going to get up tight about

If Germany really has 350 + zoos , then it would make sense for them to have their own section . Maybe some of you European members can write some more reviews etc of German Zoos ? ( I would do so myself , but its too far away from where I live )

I am not suggesting that these have to be done straight away , but they can be broken down in larger areas first , and then by country if/when the country warrants it with the posts about that country

And if any European person has the gall to complain that Germany is getting "preferential " treatment , they can just get really offended as far as I am concerned . Whats it going to do for Germany ? If they are going to take umbrage I dont care if they leave the forum . So what if a country gets a chapter all to itself because it has a lot of zoos ?

Who knows , if this forum is still around in 10 years time , we might have to have chapters on individual cities ?

Nigel, this was NOT meant to lay in on You personally; I just stated why I think that the idea You suggested would not fit and gave reasons for this. So there's no reason to play the old "You-have-not-read-my-post-game" (otherwise I could point to the 750+ and 350+ discrepancy) with me, OK? I wasn't offended by Your post in the first place, and You shouldn't be by mine.
Historically, Bulgaria, as well as partly Romania, were part of the Eastern Bloc; therefore it is correct from this point of view to set Bulgaria in the Eastern Europe section. From a more modern point of view, it could also be put in the Southern Europe section. No hooting, just my 2 cents...
The Germany "special treatment" was a little side-swipe of mine in reference to some touchy natures I have come across so far on this forum...
Why should one write more reviews on German zoos? Better ask a specific answer about the particular zoo, and You'll be heard. Once again, just my 2 cents.

ROTFL! Just perfect way to annoy Europeans!

Just make a rule that each country with 30 or more pictures gets gallery - and the rest is lumped under PC term - "Europe - countries with less photos".

Hi Sun Wukong ,

thanks for your response . It helped me to understand where you were coming from , and I think it was more than 2 cents worth .
No offense .

Cheers , Nigel
