Great photo Jana! From the angle of the bears it appears that they are american black bears, but I believe you when you say that they are asiatic black bears. Those two species can at times look quite similar.

Thanks! They are asiatic black bears, I am sure. The male was imported from Vietnam 21 years ago , the female came from Amersfoort some 5 years ago. Their first son (on my pic) is 2 years old now.

Unfortunately I have never been at this zoo, but on the basis what photos I saw taken there, or article I read, or talk with my acquaintance who had been there already results that I have the imagination that Zoo Zlin-Lesna is among the best European zoos. Jana, do You have a photo of the Giant anteater enclosure?

I have not seen so many zoos yet, so I can not say if Zlin is among the best in Europe. But it surely belongs to the better ones. There are still some old-fashioned exhibits, but this zoo has undoubtfully gone a long way in the last years.
I will upload a pic of their Giant anteater enclosure into the gallery. |
