Copenhagen Zoo - Okapis

22-01-2008
Two okapis in Copenhagen Zoo. The stable in the background is the first stable in the world built specially for okapis, sometime in the 50'es. The female (to the right) was sent to Rotterdam in early 2007, because she has never bred here, and that's a waste of okapi. Hopefully, the more expirienced breeding male in Rotterdam can set her strait. The young male left in Copenhagen, will soon be joined by another young male from Marwell, until a female can be aquired.
I really like this okapi enclosure. It's lush and green, and has a decent size.
Taken in Copenhagen Zoo, 2006.
