Elephant House house mouse

As the elephants were brought in, three house mice appeared out of the planting to forage near the fence. It must be house mice paradise, warm and dry with plenty of cover and soft sand to burrow, and best of all, the peanuts and bits of carrot that the elephants miss plus some seeds from the hay. Elephant house, Chester, 19th August 2015.

But did the elephants trumpet in terror and leap out of the way when they saw the mice?

I don't think anyone had told them about the mice. They were concentrating on the carrots, peanuts and willow branches on their side of the fence, and they seemed to be listening to the instructions of their keeper (the source of the peanuts).
