Veldhoven mystery bird no. 6

Photographed at the Dutch Parrot Refuge (N.O.P.) at Veldhoven. Free-flying in the tropical hall - looks like a babbler to me. My best guess is a Brown Babbler (Turdoides plebejus)

I think its an Arrow-marked Babbler (Turdoides jardineii) ?

I did consider Arrow-marked Babbler, but their markings are more like a white streak at the centre of each feather - here's a photo - the markings on this bird are more of a scalloped edge to the feather

Yes I see what you mean. You are probably right , I couldnt find a photo of Turdoides plubejus to compare.

Thanks for the photo , yeah I think you were right.

The illustration of the brown babbler in Handbook of the Birds of the World volume 12, page 218, matches the species in the photo.

That's what I based my ID on - I'm glad someone else agrees with me!
