The more I see of these Swiss zoos , the more enthusiastic I become about these sparkling-clean exhibits.I know many will say that of course anacondas are accustomed to murky, murky water in Venezuela , but I bet the clear water does them no harm at all and it certainly makes for a first-class exhibit for even the fussiest visitor, such as yours truly.I have seen more than my fair share of frankly quite dirty exhibits justified by claims that cleaning them would be stressful for the animals.I realize that many animals may be stressed if they are scent-marking their territory , and that a case may be made for not obliterating all their efforts in this case, but I do feel that if an enclosure can not be kept clean without severely stressing its inmates, its design, by definition, is inherently flawed.
And dirty exhibits also increase the risk of disease, which will cause the animal a whole lot more stress!
