I have stopped putting a description on Some Photos, as it was just pointless with them, but I always will post them in the right place, or there will be some way of finding which zoo they were taken at, and of what species.

I've decided to only post photos of unusual animals or photos of historical interest. I don't want to post photos of species already well represented. I hope to add some more taken at Chester in the 1970s at the weekend.

At this rate I'm going to have to start categorising photos by year as well!

Might actually be a good idea - then we get a historical archive of what the zoos looked like over time ?

I agree. I am trying to be selective with the photos I post, and I hope to have more 'ancient' photos up soon.

Bongorob- do you have any photos of Chester's lowland Gorillas (Jason & Gogal) taken TOGETHER after Jason was fully adult...?

aaargh- you were my big hope... I have very many Gorilla photos (as you can imagine) somehow despite a number of visits during that era, I never took a photo of that pair when they were fully grown & before Gogal left for Bristol Zoo.

I have some shots of Jason as a blackback (~1973?) but I don't think I ever saw much interaction between the pair and so I doubt if I have any photos showing them together.

Thanks for the offer but I've got photos of him alone at several stages... What I haven't got is a record of them together as adults- but you are right, they were hardly a well matched pair- he was really too young for her(initially) and badly humanised into the bargain.
