Zoo Atlanta - Giant Panda Exhibit

August 2008. Nowhere near as spectacular as the National Zoo's giant panda habitats in Washington DC, and probably not as good as San Diego's panda habitats. But I believe that Atlanta's does edge out the weakest of the four, which is Memphis.

Sure this habitat isn't spectacular, but it is still very nice. It has varied elevation, lots of shade cover, and is of a decent size.

It is indeed a decent exhibit, and I'd rank it #3 in the U.S. and therefore ahead of the Memphis Zoo's giant panda habitat. If you see the photos from the National Zoo then it is obvious that Washington D.C. has some truly amazing panda enclosures.

In your opinion, what makes the San Diego exhibit better than Atlanta's?
    • snowleopard
@okapikpr: it is a close call, but San Diego has more foliage and more accessible trees for climbing, while Atlanta has mock rock and terraced, neatly-trimmed lawns. Also, kudos to San Diego for attempting to enforce peace and quiet while zoo visitors line up to gawk at the black-and-white bears.
