July 2008. There's nothing like a red, hairy rhino...

Be patinet, there are a lot rumours, that an european zoo, I can't tell now which one, is trying to get sumatran rhinos.I say, these are only rumours, there are no offical statements to this plans. Personaly, i think, its very unlikely they will get them, but who really knows, how good the connections are of this zoo to the indonesian government ? On the other side is it weakminded to import sumatran rhinos to onlyone european collection, which has no experiences in keeping this species. It would be better, to send sumatran rhinos to the USA, to Cincy and White Oak and not to europe....But what I've heraed, all attemps of Cincy and LA, to import sumatran rhinos, are failed....

In regard to certain "rumours": this particular zoo might not be Leipzig?

I can't quite workout when the photo was actually taken. Possibly an older photo or does it mean Emi and her daughter share an enclosure again now- at least for some of the time?

With Harapan now departed, Cincinnati must be planning to remate Emi and Ipuh again sometime soon. I wonder how Ipuh is physically as he must be getting old now?

@Pertinax: the photo was taken in July of 2008, and it states that in my original posting. Now that Harry has gone to White Oak the sumatrans are not quite as numerous at Cincinnati as they once were.

@Sun Wukong. I don't know, which zoo wants them, I don't know, I don't know....But I hope, they will never get them. Altough I like them, but If I want to see sumatran rhinos, I save money, get in a plane and fly to Cincy or Florida. Better White Oak, Florida is much cheaper than Ohio...
