It seems like all the exhibits on the north end of the zoo are all outdated, barren, and inhumane as oppose to the African side where all the exhibits are state-of-the art, lush and amazing. There is no in-between. This exhibit is an example of an out-dated tiny exhibit and looks basically look an old-style 1950's zoo cage.

I've head from fellow ZooChatters who have visited the Dallas Zoo that there is a neat dividing line that separates the great exhibits from the terrible ones. It's one of the reasons why I chose to see the nearby Fort Worth Zoo on last summer's road trip instead of going to Dallas.

Yes, the Zoo North is the older Zoo dalals, many years, nothing happend in this part, then tehy have build the Wilds of Africa and I think, after that, they have build a few new exhibits in the Zoo North, so they have one of the best Tiger exhibits I've seen in the USA, but I can't find the pictures I've took of it. And they have a few nice primate exhibits, the new pygmy otter exhibit, but most of the enclosures are the older ones, and I think, that they will spend all the money now in the upcoming new Africa Phases in the Wilds of Africa, which includes new exhibits for elephants, giraffes, hippos and rhinos.

Just a quick reminder of the fact that monstrousities like this would be illegal in Sweden:

Legislation in Sweden on minimum size of zoo enclosures

Just an update on this exhibit. We no longer hold lions anymore. This space is now being occupied by an ocelot. From my understanding when this area was originally built (in the 1930's) it originally housed 12 cages which mean that they were about 1/3 the size of what you see now.
