Campo Gorilla Reserve exhibit at the Los Angeles Zoo

This is the bachelor group exhibit. The zoo has two exhibits, one for a family group and another one for a bachelor group.

The terrain is great for the gorilla, it gives it exercise. But in general it looks pretty good. All it needs is a big shade tree somewhere in the habitat. If that doesn't even work, AT LEAST add an umbrella for shade.

This gorilla habitat is very similar to the one at Busch Gardens in Tampa.

All the "relatively" new gorilla exhibits in the world are very similar to this, lack of shade areas, and structures in order to climb.I'm thinking in the gorillas area in bioparc, for example.

Umm... I meant that as a compliment because Busch Gardens has a nice habitat, and this is a really nice habitat. The whole lower right portion of the photo is shade..

The bronx Zoo's Congo Gorilla Forest is by far though the best gorilla exhibit in the world, and I think it may be the best exhibit ever!

BlackRhino, it's not just about shade, apparently Gorillas feel more secure when they actually have some form of canopy or cover over there head (which is entirely logical considering that they are deep forest dwellers)

As keeper said, far too many new gorilla enclosures are built without some form of canopy.
