I think whichever animals name is put first is the father.


Liger=lion male+tiger female
Tigon=Tiger male+lion female

I realy don't understand why a good zoo is keeping such an animal.....it's sad and i think its very unprofessional.

I believe that the Tigon at the National Zoo in Canberra was rescued from a circus - the zoo gave it a home to live out the rest of its life.

i honstly don't think zoo's should breed and exhibit those kind of animals, but if they recued it from somewhere its a good thing, still i think those animals should be kept off the scences.
they are amazing animals and very intresting but i dont think zoos should educate people to belive thats its ok to breed different kinds of animals togther.

Yes, that's correct. Interestingly, ligers are bigger than both parents while tigons are smaller - that's why ligers are the more popular crossbreed. Here's a link that explains why: GROWTH DYSPLASIA IN HYBRID BIG CATS
