Based on your pictures, they certainly seem to have some interesting things in here! Do you have a species list?
They do indeed! I was in a great rush and so didn't photograph everything. Here's a list of what I did record inside the house: Southern tamandua Fischer's lovebird Roulroul partridge Star finch Double-barred finch Red-throated parrotfinch Nicobar pigeon Lesser sulfur-crested cockatoo Common waxbill Long-tailed paradise whydah Royal starling Bali starling White-bellied go-away bird Elegant crested tinamou Amethyst starling Bearded barbet Green turaco Southern bald ibis Greater blue-eared glossy starling Great slaty woodpecker Chinese quail Japanese quail Lesser cuckoo Blue-and-white flycatcher Narcissus flycatcher Common kingfisher Collared scops owl Brown hawk owl (mixed species are grouped together; I'm happy to clarify or give scientific names on request) Not far off Swedish Zoo Fan's 2013 list, although there were some notable absences this year: http://www.zoochat.com/241/ueno-zoo-species-list-july-2013-a-349232/
Thanks for that, some interesting species indeed. Swedish Zoo Fan's list includes Long-tailed Paradise Whydah (Vidua paradisaea) so I assume that's the species that you saw?
