A census of emperor penguins across all of Antarctica has been conducted using satellite technology. Very cool and important for understanding their ecology and conservation.

I caught this story on TV a few hours ago. Scientists were even astonished at the Emperor Penguin numbers being twice what they had imagined.

I wonder if the satellites found evidence of the penguins building WMD's? An invasion of Antartica is imminent folks.

(Great news by the way. 500,000 penguins is a phenomenal number.)
