Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are used in a wide variety of applications, the most well-known being the Predator drones used to kill terrorists in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Some of the more benign applications are for search and rescue, surveillance, and transport.
Does anyone know of any wildlife/conservation projects that use UAVs?
- I dont know about uav's but a satillite was used to estimate penguin poupulations in antarctica.
Oh yeah good point. I remember that. And I guess that satellites are used all the time to track animals with collars.
I think someone from the BBC is a member of this forum, because just 4 hours ago they posted an article on UAVs being used to protect animals in Nepal. Have a read - it's technology at work.

Anyway, I probably posted it on some other thread earlier, but drones are used against badger-baiting in Northern Ireland. Pretty cool.
