Eighteen Madagascan pochards - the world's most endangered duck - have hatched in a captive breeding centre.

This brings the world population of the ducks to just 60.

It's not every day you oversee a nearly 50% increase in a species' population! Congrats to WWT, Durrell and all involved!

This is good news. Thanks for posting it. Hopefully they can get their numbers way up and reintroduce them to some of their former habitat.
