I don't know, I believe a rescue. There was no information about how it got into the collection on the signs.

This must be the female Gelugob. She was rescued and kept with a male at a wildlife sanctuary. She had eye problems (they are still bad) and could therefore not be put back in the wild. They attempted to mate quite a few times but she never got pregnant. They did however created the husbandry guidelines when to put the male and female together, from which Cincinatti ultimately profited

Her mate died in a freak accident a few years ago (during a storm, a branch broke of a tree and fell on the male rhino, killing it). She was then moved from the wildlife sanctuary to a zoo to spend the rest of her days. She is now considered too old to breed. Amazing pictures Jo, thnx
