Cape petrel (Daption capense)

Also called Cape pigeon, just to confuse non-birders. The genus is an anagram of pintado (spotted) which was the Spanish name. Kaikoura, May 2013

That's very interesting, I've never heard of using a anagram for a taxonomic name before. Cool

Dacelo (kookaburras) and Lacedo are both anagrams of Alcedo - all are kingfisher genera. There are a few others as well.

Actually, a link is in order I believe: http://www.curioustaxonomy.net/word/anagram.html

This is such a cool site, great link! Abra cadabra!!! I'm very impressed with the anagrams, but some of the other puns and insults are very clever too. :D
