Fossas and hyraxes will arrive in October (fossas already live at the off-view breeding facility, don't know if they import more or just exhibit the existing ones). Hyraxes exhibit is built at the Elephant house A pair of red pandas will be transferred from Dublin zoo soon.
3.1.3 Amur tigers were born recently. Also 1 Amur leopard & 1 lynx (all in the off-view breeding facility)
Only one red panda from Dublin zoo arrived. And it will be kept alone, with intention that 'numerous visitors would help it to cope with loneliness' (quoting the zoo's press secretary) I suspect that 2 animals arrived as planned but one died.
Moscow Zoo has a good record with the Pygmy slow lory and was prop. the first European zoo to breed this species in 1985. Now the zoo recieved 2 new females - one 3 years old, the other 4 years . With these 2 new animals Moscow now has 7 animals of this species.
Moscow Zoo already had 2 female sloths in its collection Fredi and Ella. During December 2014 the male Oliver ( born July 2013 ) came from Antwerp Zoo and afther 1 1/2 month of quarantaine Oliver ( in Moscow now called Kolja ) is now on display.
Terrarium opened again after renovation, with new signage & interior of visitor area. Currently 22 species are exhibited here.
2 hand-raised chicks of Crowned cranes put on exhbit. Would be introduced to parents after becoming fully fledged.
